Round 17 - Returning to the MCG and playing a team that hasn't got a great record there, well it gave us some hope that we could match it with the Swans. We hadn't beaten them in quite a few matches and although our second half form was good against Freo, our poor starts have been costing us dearly. To beat Sydney we would need to start well and be hard at it.

We got off to a ripping start with Lynden Dunn soccering the ball through for a goal within 20 seconds of the start and with Brad Green getting three goals in the first 11 minutes, it was looking good. You know you are in for a pretty good day when you get a decision go your way that probably shouldn't have - ie Brad Green's "goal" that shaved the post. That's luck in footy.. we usually miss out on those kind of moments.

Another good sign is when your backmen start running through the middle and scoring goals from 60 out. We had some wonderful chases  on Jetta from Watts and Frawley as well as superb tackling and all over pressure. Was this our team or were aliens brought from above to take over their bodies? I just hope those "aliens" can stick around as these "new" Demons are much better on the heart and on the soul. I haven't enjoyed a game of footy like that in a long time however I am hoping that I get to say that again after the Gabba match this Saturday. We have nailed the Lions once this year when they were in good form and now they are struggling however it would be foolish to think this was a done deal. We need to treat this game just like we did Sunday's game and come out and play like Demons.

Jim Stynes continues to be an inspiration to the club and once again was in hospital dealing with his tumours and then leaving and returning to the club he loves and who loves him. He didn't focus on himself but rather to encourage the young guys who were feeling pretty bad after not being able to get the team over the line. Jim just made them feel better as only he can and inspires all around him.

For those wishing to leave Jim a get well message or indeed some inspiration, please go here and give him your thoughts and prayers. If, by chance, you get an error message, just click yes and you should get there. If not, please go to the club site and leave your message for the great man there.

We all love him for his passion and drive and for all he has done for the club and now we must get behind him and the club and keep his dreams alive.
