" Its a grand old flag, it's a high flying flag, its the emblem for me and for you. It's the emblem of the team we love, the team of the red and the blue....." Round 22 -Our game is not going to impact on the final 8 at all and just a possible shuffle of positions outside the 8 with the Dees finishing as high as 10 and as low as 12. We didn't start the game overly well with the Kangaroos getting the first three goals of the game and we had barely touched the ball. Eventually Jurrah scored the first of his 5 goals and we were on the board. He finished with 5 along with Brad Green and Lynden also chimed in with three including one miraculous goal out of midair. Our third quarter got us up by 3 points but it should have been much more. We just didnt take our opportunities and this gave the Roos hope and the difference was they took their opportunities. We didn't lie down however and got close but time ran out. It is a young team and will learn from this year but we made some excellent progress. Our aim next year, one would hope, would be to win at least half our games including at least half our interstate trips. ************************************* Congratulations to James Frawley, Brad Green and Mark Jamar for their inclusion in the All Australian Squad of 25. This will be culled in a couple of weeks and the final team will be announced. Tom Scully, Jordan Gysberts and Jack Trengove are also in the running for the Rising Star Award announced tomorrow ( Sept 1). Tom is our most likely and he has had a wonderful year. Good luck guys!! ******************************************* Shanghai Showdown Melbourne v Brisbane Shanghai, China 17th October 2010 This is now sold out and no further bookings can be taken. We wish everyone going a safe, happy and rewarding trip.
******************************************** Congrates to Jim Stynes, the committee and the Melbourne Football Club and it's supporters on becoming debt free after a very successful Debt Demolition dinner last Wednesday night. Needing approx $560,000 to clear the remaining debt at that night, they cleared it and surpassed it thanks to the wonderful generosity of some very loyal supporters. Jim Stynes continues to be an inspiration to the club and was at the game on Sunday until he felt a bit unwell. He seemed to consider that the boys were in good hands and were going to do the job and went home to rest up. He inspires the players on the field, the people around the club and indeed the supporters themselves. It is also heartwarming to hear good words from opposition supporters and good wishes. He is loved the football world over. For those wishing to leave Jim a get well message or indeed some inspiration, please go here and give him your thoughts and prayers. If, by chance, you get an error message, just click yes and you should get there. If not, please go to the club site and leave your message for the great man there. We all love him for his passion and drive and for all he has done for the club and now we must get behind him and the club and keep his dreams alive.
